As expected, the 2009 vintage from Napa Valley in on track for being truly amazing. In other words "Supercalafragalistic!" We tasted a sample last Saturday, and can I say, this was just short of "O". While it is still a little tight from it's youthfulness, this 2009 Le Petit Vice shines brightly. Lively fruit, solid yet soft (already) tannins, and after 2 hours of decanting it really began to open up. Very dynamic wine, stand alone or with many foods.

Greetings from Napa Valley!

We hope your Holiday season was enjoyable and easy to cleanup! We had a beautiful yet unseasonably dry Holiday here in The Valley; that is to say until we had 3 inches of rain last week! There have been a few changes here at Vice Versa, all for the good, and we wanted to let you know about them. New people, fresh ideas and as always, perfect wines.

First, I would like to introduce myself. My name is JC Flugger, the new Vice President of Direct to Consumer sales here at Vice Versa. I will be your go-to person for all your Vice Versa needs; ordering, tastings, questions, baby sitting – you name it! Patrice and Katherine are also still available if you want to keep in touch with them or work with them. We are a team, a family, and that’s the way we work.

For myself, I truly understand the difference between Luxury and Cult, Service and Hospitality, as well as combining Business and Passion. Husband and father of 2 children, my diverse background led me to the Wine world a short 3 years ago. Recently, I come from Merus Wines in Saint Helena, running that operation for nearly 1 ½ years, honing my “Garagiste” styling’s. When Patrice offered me a position in the Vice Versa team, I did not hesitate one second to embrace this opportunity and on December 1st I had found a place to call home! As you know, the Purity, Passion, and Perfection we strive for at Vice Versa is second to none, and I immediately realized I had joined one of Napa’s new paradigms in wine.

While getting my “lay of the land” this last month, I found some gems that had been forgotten about or just over-looked as new vintages came along. As supporters of Vice Versa, I will be offering you special releases from our Library, including the last cases of the last Syrah we will ever produce, the 2007 Vice Versa Syrah. This rich, dark Syrah offers a slight smoky nose, amazing full mouth feel, and luscious dark berries making this a perfect wine for grilling almost anything! (I’ll be posting some of my personal recipes on the website, so be sure to check back often.) Be sure to get some of this LAST vintage before it’s all gone.
